RMCD Photography takes photos of cars at shows and meets and puts them on this site. This page explains what we collect about you, why, and what you can do about it. We've kept it short and in plain English.

Just looking

You don't need an account to browse the albums and photos. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies, and we don't track you around the web. Like most sites, our servers record the technical details of each visit (such as your IP address and the page you asked for) in their logs, to keep the site running and to deal with abuse.

If you sign in

You sign in with Facebook. From Facebook we receive and keep:

  • your name,
  • your profile picture, and
  • an identifier Facebook gives us for you in this app.

We don't receive your email address, your friends or anything you post on Facebook. We use a cookie to keep you signed in and to protect our forms from being misused. It is essential, so the site can't work for signed-in people without it.

What you do here

If you use them, we keep the photos you've liked, and the cars you've added to "Your cars": the number plate you gave us, whether it's a registration or a show plate, and when you last looked at that car's photos. That is how we show you your likes and gather the photos of your car.

If you turn on notifications, we keep an address your browser gives us for that device, so we can tell you when an album with your car in it goes live. Turn them off from your account page and that address is deleted.

Number plates and the photos

The photos are ours. When we add them, we use two outside services to read them: Plate Recognizer reads number plates, and Google's Gemini works out a car's make, model and colour. The photos are sent to them for that. We use the plates we find so photos can be searched and so a car's photos can be found when its owner adds it. We don't try to find out who owns a car, and we don't look up plates against any database.

If you're in a photo, or it shows your car, and you want it taken down, tell us and we'll remove it (see "Getting in touch").

Who else handles your data

  • Facebook, so you can sign in.
  • Our hosting provider, which runs the site and its database.
  • AWS, where the photo files are stored.
  • Plate Recognizer and Google, as above, for reading photos.

We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

For as long as you have an account. When you delete your data, or ask Facebook to, it is deleted (see below). Server logs are kept for a short time and then cleared.

Your choices

You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted.

  • To delete your data yourself, open My account and choose Delete my account. It removes your account, your likes and the cars you've added.
  • Or remove RMCD Photography in your Facebook settings (Settings, then Apps and Websites) and ask for your data to be deleted. We're told straight away and delete it. There is more on how deleting your data works.

Getting in touch

Message us on our Facebook or Instagram page (the links are at the bottom of every page) for anything in this policy: to ask about your data, or to have a photo taken down.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. See also our terms of use.
